Data Protection

Cookie Policy.

This policy explains what cookies are, how they are used on our website, and how you can manage them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet or mobile) when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. Cookies may be ‘session’ cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or ‘persistent’ cookies, which remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.

Similar technologies — such as web beacons, pixels and local storage — perform comparable functions. In this policy, we refer to all of these collectively as ‘cookies’.

2. How we use cookies

We keep the use of cookies on our website to a minimum. Our website does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, and we do not use cookies to build a profile of you or to sell your data to third parties.

The cookies that may be set when you visit our website fall into two groups: a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function and to remain secure, and cookies set by the third-party services we embed to display certain content (described in section 4 below). Where any non-essential cookies are used, we will ask for your consent before they are placed, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR.

3. Categories of cookies

Cookies are generally grouped into the following categories. This explains what each category does and whether our website uses it:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the website to function properly and securely; for example, to maintain security or to remember your cookie preferences. These do not require your consent, and the site cannot work correctly without them. We use only essential cookies of this kind.
  • Performance and analytics cookies — collect anonymous information about how visitors use a website, such as which pages are visited most often. Our website does not currently use these.
  • Functional cookies — remember choices you make (such as your preferences) to provide a more personal experience. Our website does not currently use these, other than to remember any cookie preference you set.
  • Targeting and advertising cookies — used to deliver advertising relevant to you and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. Our website does not use these.

4. Third-party cookies

To provide certain features, our website embeds content from a small number of trusted third-party services. These providers may set their own cookies or process limited technical data (such as your IP address) when their content loads. We do not control these cookies; they are governed by each provider’s own privacy and cookie policies.

Google Fonts — we use Google Fonts to display the typefaces used across our website. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google’s servers, which involves processing your IP address. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

SRA Digital Badge — our footer displays the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s digital badge, which confirms that we are a regulated firm. The badge is served through an embedded frame provided by Yoshki on behalf of the SRA, and may set cookies when it loads.

If you would prefer that this third-party content does not load, you can block third-party cookies and frames using your browser settings, as described below. Doing so will not prevent you from using the main features of our website.

5. Managing and disabling cookies

When you first visit our website, a banner asks whether you accept non-essential cookies — such as those set by our embedded SRA regulatory badge. Until you accept, that content is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page.

You can also control and manage cookies through your browser in a number of ways. Most web browsers allow you to view the cookies stored on your device, delete them individually or in bulk, and block cookies from some or all websites. You can usually find these controls in the ‘Settings’, ‘Preferences’ or ‘Privacy’ section of your browser. Guidance for the most common browsers is available on their support websites:

  • Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and other major browsers each provide instructions within their ‘Help’ or ‘Privacy and security’ settings.
  • For general, independent guidance on managing cookies, see the Information Commissioner’s Office guidance on cookies and similar technologies.

Please note that if you choose to block or delete cookies, some parts of our website — or embedded content such as our regulatory badge — may not display or function as intended.

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a ‘Do Not Track’ (DNT) setting that signals to websites that you do not wish to be tracked. As there is no accepted industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, our website does not currently respond to them. However, as explained above, we do not use tracking or advertising cookies in any event.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this cookie policy from time to time — for example, to reflect changes to the cookies we use or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the ‘last updated’ date at the top of the page will be revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

8. Contact us
